Stuffbay rails .. finally

I’ve just ordered the newly designed aluminum stuffbay rails.
Scarver Doctor did an amazing job.

I guess this will go on the list of things to replace over the winter.

I’ll post up some pics when they arrive.

Great commute today

The riding days are now numbered for this year, but this morning’s commute was one of the best ones I’ve had in a long time. Weather was warm (for September). Drivers were courteous. I hit almost no red lights. Makes me wish I lived in a place where I could ride year round.

There is a season …..

The riding year is winding down. I didn’t do nearly as much riding as I thought I would do. House projects, family situations and daily life just get in the way.

Over the winter, I’m hoping to do a cleanup of the oil/water pump area. A few years ago, I did a clutch-pack switcheroo and, while everything still seems fine from a gear changing perspective, I’ve noticed jingly sound coming from the transmission. I just need to see for myself that everything is still in working order. Just a piece of mind thing really.

I’ll also be removing some no longer needed farkles like the trip meter connector and small led lights I have supplementing my brake lighting. Piddly stuff really. I need to also change my back brake pads at some point. Stuff is starting to squeal back there.

At the start of the season, I bought new gloves and new boots. The boot have worked out great. I can walk in them all day. The gloves, on the other hand, were a bit of a bust. They are not water proof, difficult to get on/off when you hand is wet. Recently, they’ve started to smell like old feet. I’d put them in the washer, but there is a rip need the velco that would get bigger in the washer.

Upgraded NAS hardware

I’ve added a Synology DX510 expansion unit to the NAS setup – giving me more than enough expansion room.

Return of the flickering headlight

I wasn’t expecting to have to post this less than a year after replacing the wiring harness, but the low beam connector has all but melted and disintegrated again. SO I cut it off.

I was able to find some odds and ends I had and fabricated a new connector that I can now splice into the existing wire.

And since I have an abundance of these parts, I can fix this again with out too much hassle.
